On the 20th of March 2004 my brother Simon aged 44 was shot and killed in his pub Lion's Den situated on Ontdekkers Road, Horison, Gauteng, South Africa.

The murderer was White Trash by the name of Glenard Davies. He shot and killed Simon and three others - Julian Dry, Rikus Liebenberg and Roy. Two people were wounded. Simon left behind his wife and two sons, mother and two brothers.

Born in Roodepoort Simon grew up in Florida Park. He went to the Kleuterhoekie as a pre-schooler and his primary school education was at Gustav Preller in Discovery. After my father died in 1972 we relocated to Benoni. Simon attended Brandwag Hoerskool for 2 years before returning to Florida where he matriculated at Florida Hoërskool His nickname "Vlam" remained in use after school.
